It seems Any is at peace. And maybe she is ready for the next adventure!
And that’s it, dear cybernauts. This is the end of the story. Today we close a cycle. If I could talk to past me I would say “Hello Past Me, this is Future You, and you have no idea what are you getting into”.
Now, 8 years later, the M9 Girls story has been told. I was close to quit a couple of times, our artists rotated, the story grew more and more complex. But this is it. We made it, and we cannot thank enough all the people who were with us for this ride. A big hi-five from the M9 Girls team: Kanela, Shadow and Rulo.
And our thanks to Kari-Liu for the banners, Melaredblu for the awesome covers and Charlie Wise for gifting us a character. Another hi-five to all our friends who have called ourselves Underdogs at some time. You rock. If there’s something we got of making a comic was the awesome friendships we met along the road. And of course, my thanks to Kanela for thinking it was a good idea to start this comic with me, and giving the Girls their awesome looks. And to Shadow, for adopting the comic and putting her own quirkiness to our characters.
OK, you may be thinking this sound like a goodbye. Honestly? I don’t know. I still don’t know what my creative endeavors will be for the next couple of years. Whether I take the Girls for another ride or I stubbornly embrace the creation of a new comic, that remains to be seen.
In the meantime, let me tell you how happy I am that you, fellow cybernaut, shared this story with us. You are the best.
Til the next time.
The Hippo
PS. I love you, M9 Girls!
PPS. Stay tuned, we have some commemorative art coming soon.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. And may I just say, artistically, this page looks fantastic. Clearly a lot of effort went into make the most of this final shot. I’m still holding out hope that we might see more in the future, but if this is the note we end it on, I really can’t complain.
See you around, M9 Girls, whether that means re-reading the comic or the possibility of a new arc someday. It’s been a real treat.
Thanks for the kind words. Mela. Our mighty artist really went the extra mile with this page. We are taking a break from making a comic, and that should help to think about the future of this and other stories in my mind…
First off, congrats on making it to the finish line! Not every comic gets to its natural conclusion on the internet, and the fact that you got yours to the end is amazing in an of itself!
I fell in love with M9 Girls years ago. I still remember doing that first crossover illustration for Underdogs! Getting to know you and all the girls has been an absolute delight.
I hope we’ll see you again soon, whether it’s for more M9 Girls, or a new endeavor. Us Underdogs gotta stick together! Thank you for this wonderful tale.
Always proud to be an Underdog, thanks for keeping the flame alive, MJ.
Wooow! Complete work!
Bittersweet feelings… ^ ^
Same here, man, same here…
Congratulations. You crossed the finish line with style and grace. What a wonderful ending.
Such a beautiful page.
Shadow, you really outdid yourself with this one. I think it’d make a great poster.
You really brought your style to the Girls and made them your own. It’s been a treat to watch you grow, experiment, and take chances with your art. Every page you’ve made has been so much fun to read and admire. I hope we’re fortunate enough to see more of your work in the future. Thank you for all your hard work and talent.
Rulo, Rulo, Rulo, what can I say? All these years, reading your comic, hanging out with you and the Underdogs, working together on scripts ant having new adventures, I hope I can always go back and re-read this d crossovers… I’ve always loved the Girls, and, while I’m gonna miss not having new adventures, I hope I can always go back and re-read this one.
But this triumphant ending is only the next step to a grand new adventure! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
One of the greatest things of getting into the webcomic universe was meeting the Underdogs, and I cherish all the nightly conversations we had, usually about anything but comics, though I also liked how we would discuss the happenings in our created universes, or the quirks of our characters. I can thank you guys for the character development the girls experienced over the years. And thanks to webcomic time we are older and they are still in college, ha ha!
It was indeed very fortunate that Shadow appeared at the right time for the comic, just when the story most deviated from the original plan, with her art showing the changes.
Well, we need to rest and look back at what we did, before we get the itch to start all over again!
Thanks!
